Aberdeen 2019

Our holiday really started and ended here – arriving by train from Newcastle and departing to Orkney by air, and arriving back from Shetland by ship and back to London by air.

While there we spend some time sightseeing. We started at St Machar’s Cathedral (see more here), which is very reminiscent of St Magnus’ in Kirkwall and on our return spent the morning exploring Footdee (pronounced Fittie – more information here).

Here are the photos we took – St Machar’s are mine, Footdee are Alison’s. There are no external shots of St Machar’s because it was absolutely throwing it down that day – by contrast, we had both overdressed on our return, to keep weight and bulk out of our cases, but ended up in shirtsleeves and carrying coats and sweaters.
